Locate on the map each capital of a chosen area

This game does the reverse of placing the capital on the map: the name of a capital appears, and you have to click its marker among all those of the area. The markers of every capital in the area stay visible at the same time, so the right city has to be recognized among the others. The map must therefore be read carefully to find the requested marker.

The game helps you match each capital with its position, area by area. It suits students revising geography as well as curious people who want to place cities on a map. Each correct answer earns 10 points, and a help highlights the country concerned. It is played entirely by clicking, with no typing. Scores are saved in the browser, with no account to create.

How to play

  1. Choose an area from those offered; the whole-world map is not offered here.
  2. Read the name of the announced capital while the markers of the area stay visible.
  3. Click that capital's marker on the map to earn 10 points.
  4. Use the help if needed to highlight the country concerned, then move on to the next capital.

Frequently asked questions

How many points does a correct answer earn?
A correct answer earns 10 points, and you have to click the right marker on the map, among those of the chosen area. The name of the announced capital stays on screen while you look.
Why is the whole-world map not offered?
The whole-world map is not offered in this game, because the capital markers would be too close together. The game is therefore played area by area, with the markers of all the capitals in the area visible.
Do I need an account to play?
No. The game is free, with no account needed. Scores are saved in the browser, and no sign-up is required before starting a round.
What is the help for in this game?
The help highlights the country of the announced capital on the map, so you can find it before clicking its capital's marker. It acts as a hint, without changing the question.
