Name a sea, an ocean or a gulf shown on the map
This geography game lights up a spot on the world map, and you have to say which sea, ocean, gulf or bay it is. The quiz covers the three oceans, the Atlantic, the Pacific and the Indian, along with well-known seas such as the Mediterranean, the Red Sea or the Gulf of Mexico. You can type the name without the generic word: "Red" is enough for the Red Sea. It is a simple way to review the seas and oceans of the world.
A game has ten questions by default, with the choice of twenty, fifty or All questions in the zone. Typing the name earns 10 points, choosing it from four answers earns 5. When typing, the hint shows the first letter and the number of letters; when choosing, it removes two answers. In both cases, the hint halves the points. The record is saved in the browser for each zone: Europe, Asia or the whole world. The game suits students reviewing geography and curious minds.
How to play
- A marker lights up on the map, at the position of a sea, an ocean, a gulf or a bay.
- Type the name without the generic word, then confirm with the Enter key: a small typo is tolerated.
- If the name escapes you, the hint shows the first letter and the number of letters, or removes two answers.
- At the end of the game, the score is shown, out of 10 points per question at most, and the record is saved in the browser.

- Is an account needed to play?
- No account needed: the game is free, and scores and records are saved in the browser, for each zone. A free account, which is optional, adds the Elo ranking, spaced review of missed questions and friends.
- How many points does each answer earn?
- A sea named by typing earns 10 points, and 5 points when chosen from four answers. A game has ten questions by default, or more with the choice of twenty, fifty or All questions in the zone.
- Are accents and capital letters taken into account?
- No. Accents, capital letters and articles do not count, and names are accepted in all four languages of the site. So typing "mediterranean" is enough for the Mediterranean.
- What should I do if I do not know the sea asked for?
- The "I don't know" button skips the question. Before that, the hint can be used: when typing, it shows the first letter and the number of letters, and when choosing, it removes two answers. In both cases, the hint halves the points for the question.
