Feudalism, crusades, castles

The Middle Ages theme covers about a thousand years of European history, from the fall of the Western Roman Empire in 476 to the end of the 15th century: Clovis and Charlemagne, feudal society with its lords, vassals and serfs, castles, Gothic cathedrals, the Crusades, the Hundred Years' War, Joan of Arc and the Black Death of 1347. You will also meet the Byzantine and Arab-Muslim worlds, which shaped the period.

Games are free of charge, go from very easy to expert across five steps, and every answer is followed by a short comment that explains the context. These quizzes help separate myths from facts about an era too often reduced to darkness: the Middle Ages also saw the rise of universities, merchant towns and Gothic architecture.
