From Paris haute couture to ready-to-wear collections, from Coco Chanel's little black dress to Christian Dior's New Look in 1947, fashion tells the story of silhouettes and of the societies that wore them. This Fashion & Design theme also explores industrial and interior design: Walter Gropius's Bauhaus, the chairs of Charles and Ray Eames, Scandinavian style, Art Deco and the great French and Italian luxury houses.
You can review designers and couturiers, fabrics and cuts, design movements and the objects that became icons. The quizzes cost nothing; pick from five levels, very easy to expert, and every answer comes with an explanation that fills in the story behind the piece or the creator.

Haute couture is a protected designation in France, granted to fashion houses that meet strict requirements: made-to-measure garments, handmade in Parisian workshops and shown in regular presentations. Its founding is often credited to the Englishman Charles Frederick Worth, who set up in Paris around 1858.
